What Is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy involves the diagnosis, treatment of movement dysfunction and enhancement of physical and functional abilities. Physical therapy includes the examination, evaluation, prognosis, and intervention provided by a physical therapist.Treatment is directed toward the restoration, maintenance, and promotion of optimal physical function, fitness, and wellness. It includes the prevention of the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries.
Our therapists are professionally trained and state licensed. Your first appointment will include a thorough history and evaluation of your problem, as well as treatment, patient education, and instruction. The best results in therapy are based on good communication, compliance, and teamwork between you, your physical therapist, and your doctor.
Treatment sessions are designed to fit your individual needs. They may include a combination of stability, strengthening, flexibility, and movement exercises, awareness techniques as well as a self-treatment and home exercise program to enhance your ability to move freely without pain.
